Convert a video for Apple TV

What the converter does

Every uploaded video enters a conversion queue, including MP4 and MOV files. Better Signage converts the uploaded source on its servers, then checks the result before making it available for your playlist.

The converter produces H.264 MP4, scales down oversized video, limits frame rate to 60 fps, and tone-maps HDR. Corrupt, protected, or unsupported sources may not decode. Images are checked without entering the video queue.

While conversion runs

• Keep the tab open until the upload is finished and the video appears in your library. You may then close the browser; conversion continues on the server.
• Waiting to convert means the job is queued for an available converter. Larger files and a busy queue can take longer.
• Converting shows progress; Checking the converted file means the service is verifying the finished result. The video cannot join a playlist until it is ready.
• If conversion fails, read the error before changing your source. A temporary service problem does not mean your video is damaged. Contact support if the queue or an error persists.

A compatible export

Export a single H.264 video track in MP4, at 1–60 fps, with the long edge no greater than 3,840 pixels and the short edge no greater than 2,160 pixels. JPEG and PNG images do not need video conversion.

A compatible export still passes through server conversion. It gives the converter a straightforward source but cannot guarantee that a damaged file will decode. Export only the actual loop, then use the playlist’s timing controls to repeat it.
